The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will significantly impact businesses’ approach to data privacy compliance and are likely to require major changes in the way organisations collect, use, handle and store personal data. The threat of increased monetary penalties, combined with increasing demands from consumers, mean businesses must be compliant when the GDPR comes into effect on 25 May 2018, and they need to manage the risks accordingly.
