Recent discussions in the market highlight that MGAs underwriting in the UK on behalf of overseas insurer principals—who are not licensed to operate in the UK—may inadvertently bring those insurers “onshore.” This practice could lead to regulatory non-compliance unless a fronting arrangement with a UK-authorised insurer is in place.
