Why are the MGAA asking for this information?

We are requesting this data to allow us to authoritatively represent the MGA community for several crucial reasons.

Firstly, comprehensive membership data allows the MGAA to accurately assess the size, demographics, and interests of the MGA community, enabling us to tailor our services, events, and advocacy efforts to better suit the needs and preferences of our members.

Secondly, such data facilitates effective communication and engagement with our members, ensuring that important information, updates, and opportunities reach the intended audience efficiently.

Finally, by maintaining a database of members, we can demonstrate the strength and diversity of the MGA community to stakeholders, including policymakers, sponsors, and industry partners, thereby enhancing the organisation's credibility and influence within the wider insurance sector.

As the Managing General Agents’ Association, our mission is to wholeheartedly represent our members within the UK and Republic of Ireland MGA Community with expertise, knowledge, enthusiasm and relevance.

In order to accurately represent the MGA Community and understand the make-up of our membership, it is important that we gather data that reflects financial and operational trading activities.

We are acutely aware of the importance of maintaining privacy. We will be designated as a data controller for any data we obtain from you and your respective employers and as such, we will be responsible for complying with all relevant and future data protection laws. Disclosure

You are applying to become a member of the Managing General Agents’ Association as a Managing General Agent.

Please ensure that all information is correct and that you answer all questions accurately as these details will form the basis of your membership. Any incorrect information could invalidate your application, or subsequent membership of the MGAA.

Before submitting this application to the MGAA for consideration, you agree that:

a. You are a shareholder, director or officer of the organisation/entity mentioned in this proposal, or you have gained the necessary permission from a shareholder, director of the organisation/entity to complete and submit this application on their behalf.

b. The organisation/entity mentioned in this proposal underwrites and accepts risks on behalf of one or more authorised (re)insurance company or companies, or Lloyd’s syndicates as the greater proportion of their business activities, and has a core fiduciary duty to these (re)insurer/s.

c. Your organisation/entity is regulated by the FCA, CBI or equivalent regulatory body recognised within its territory.

d. The organisation/entity or directors therein have not been subject to disciplinary sanctions (or are currently the subject of any investigation) by the FCA/CBI or any other professional and/or membership body or regulatory authority.

e. Your organisation/entity has not been involved in liquidation, receivership, bankruptcy, dissolution, high court writ, voluntary winding up orders, striking off, or similar procedure pending or been subject to receiving order or county court judgement nor feature on the UK or any other Sanctions List.

f. Your organisation/entity does not have a director, partner or proprietor that has been convicted of any criminal offence (not treated as a spent conviction under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974) other than motoring convictions, nor feature on the UK or any other Sanctions List.

g. On acceptance into membership you will sign and return the MGAA’s Code of Ethics and ensure to uphold these ethics and undertake no activity that might bring the Managing General Agents’ Association into disrepute.

h. You will ensure that membership fees due will be paid in a timely manner and in accordance with the 30-day credit terms afforded to your organisation.

i. You acknowledge that MGAA membership operates on a common renewal date of 1st September each year. Where notification of lapsing of membership is received after 1st September, your organisation will be liable for a pro-rated charge of the full annual membership fee for each day beyond this date until such notification is received.

c. Your organisation/entity is regulated by the FCA, CBI, PRA or equivalent regulatory body recognised within its territory.

d. The organisation/entity or directors therein have not been subject to disciplinary sanctions (or are currently the subject of any investigation) by the FCA/CBI/PRA or any other professional and/or membership body or regulatory authority.
