This session will lay out the regulator’s expectations of insurers over the near and longer terms, including what insurers must demonstrate by 3 June 2026.
More specifically, it will cover:

Aidan Thomson

Aidan is an environmental law specialist. He works for clients across many industry sectors, in particular insurance, utilities, real estate, manufacturing, waste management and transport.
His work across these sectors has exposed him to the full range of environmental liability and compliance issues, and in a number of different contexts ranging from administrative law challenges, statutory appeal processes, criminal litigation and civil claims for damages on the one hand, to transactional risk management on the other.
As well as dealing with traditional environmental liability and compliance issues, Aidan is involved in related areas of ESG, helping clients to manage the risks and opportunities stemming from new laws around climate change, and embed new behaviours internally and externally. He is especially active in the insurance sector.
Aidan has been recommended as a leading environmental law practitioner in the Legal 500 and Chambers directories for over twenty years.
Abhay Srivastava

Abhay is Weightmans’ Head of ESG. He is an experienced ESG professional, who has worked across international brands such as Shell, Coca-Cola and IBM.
At Weightmans, Abhay spearheads internal ESG initiatives and also advises Weightmans’ clients alongside lawyers on ESG matters
Abhay, by qualification, is an engineer and postgraduate in sustainability and carries rich hands-on experience on Health, Safety & Environment management systems, sustainability reporting, ESG risk management, and assurance/governance processes setup.
He prides himself on being an ESG changemaker who has worked in global settings across culturally diverse and geographically dispersed teams.
