About this session

For a decade, the MGA model rode a hard market that rewarded speed and scale alike. That phase is ending. Capacity providers are becoming more selective, and the businesses that pass their scrutiny are the ones that can prove underwriting discipline, not just growth. For established MGAs, the challenge is protecting a business built during favourable conditions. For new entrants, it is understanding what good looks like from day one.

In this session, INSTANDA presents the MGA Performance Index: a board-level self-assessment built across four foundations of MGA performance — product velocity, distribution reach, capacity confidence, and operating economics. We’ll walk MGAA members through the operating signatures that separate aging platforms from peak performers, the benchmarks INSTANDA’s global MGA clients have achieved, and the five questions every board should be asking right now.

Delegates will leave with a practical framework to place their own organisation honestly against each foundation, and a clear view of where the highest-value gaps sit before competitors close them first.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe where your own organisation sits across the four foundations of MGA performance, using the operating signatures that distinguish aging, competitive and peak platforms so you can pinpoint exactly where gains can be made.
  • Explain why capacity providers are placing greater weight on underwriting discipline and data quality as the market softens, and what that shift means for renewal conversations and new capacity negotiations over the next 12 months.
  • Outline the five board-level questions needed to identify the gap between your current position and peak performance, giving your board a ready-made agenda item for their next strategy session.
